I went in for a routine cleaning. They then told me I had to have a root and scaling procedure done because my teeth were in such dire condition. I then received a bill for the full amount because they didn't do a simple pre-determination. If they had done that they would have found out that that they were three months early for that procedure. They refused to take any responsibility for not verifying that an $800 procedure was within the time limit and they also refused to handle the appeal. I tried to appeal on my own but it was rejected and my insurance was surprised that I did the appeal on my own, they said the dentist usually handles an appeal. When I called the office and asked to talk to the office manager about a second appeal, weeks weeks went by with no call I finally had to go into the office to talk to the a manger. She refused to run the appeal unless the got paid and then said the appeal would fail. They weren't interested in fighting to to get the appeal approved. From reading other comments this isn't the first time they upsold a customer on a procedure they didn't ask for. There are plenty of other dentists in the area, so I wouldn't use a dentist that can't be bothered to verify that an expensive procedure can be covered.
